Ravinia Centennial Necktie, 2004
This printed necktie was designed for the Ravinia Music Festival’s 100th anniversary season. Since Ravinia was originally an amusement park with a carousel, we used a carousel horse as a primary design element along with the wonderful trees that adorn the grounds. Stars, moons and musical notes complete the playful design. And because the design is printed rather than woven, we were able to print a commemorative plate directly on the tail of the tie.

Ravinia Centennial Scarf, 2004
The lovely woman at the center of this wonderful art deco scarf was inspired by a 1924 program cover for the music festival in its early years. The border features the famed Ravinia entrance gate (and a bunch of French horns).

Lyric Opera of Chicago Necktie,
2002-2003 Season
If you’re ever been to the Lyric Opera House in Chicago, you know it’s a magnificent art deco theater. Back in 2000, when the Lyric first asked us to design ties and scarves for them, they let us roam the entire theater with a digital camera. We clicked away, capturing detail after exquisite detail throughout this dazzling building. The woven tie pictured here features a relatively simple but handsome architectural motif from the theater’s interior.

Lyric Opera of Chicago Scarf, 2002-2003 Season
If you’re sitting in the audience of the Chicago Lyric Opera, and you look up at the walls, you’ll see this image repeated over and over. We saw it and thought “Bingo, there’s your scarf right there.” And now that scarf's right here. Renée Fleming held this aloft in the breeze on the cover of that season’s catalogue. We’re not sure if it was the star power of the world’s leading soprano, or our rich and vibrant colors, but this beauty sold out in record time.
