The schedule below will give you a general sense of the process.
It’s certainly conceivable that things can happen faster,
but with people’s schedules and needed approvals, they generally
don’t.
Week 0: First Design Meeting
We first meet with you to discuss what you have in mind. You should
have source material and if possible, examples of what you like.
We’ll bring examples of what we’ve done for others and
for our own collection. Our goal is to leave the meeting with a
clear sense of direction and copies of the source material you’ve
provided. If a face-to-face meeting is not possible, email, UPS
and the telephone can fill in nicely.
Week 2: Second Design Meeting
First round of design comps will be presented. We’ll show
3 design approaches. You pick one and we’ll fine-tune it with
your input.
Week 4: Third Design Meeting
The design receives final approval. Then we discuss colors. After
this meeting, we’ll begin the production of what is called
a strikeoff. This is woven (or printed) silk that shows off up to
a dozen color combinations.
Week 8: Strikeoff Presented (The Color Meeting)
Final colors are selected, quantities are approved, and production
is scheduled. A 50% deposit is due before production begins.
Production (Weeks 9-12)
Week 12-14
Your beautiful custom-designed neckties (or whatever you might have
ordered) are delivered. You’re thrilled. The remaining 50%
plus all incidental expenses (shipping etc.) is billed and paid.
We’re thrilled.
Repeat next year.
