One A. C. Gilbert began selling a toy called the Mysto Erector Structural Steel Builder in 1913. In spite of the name (obviously shortened later), it became one of the most popular toys of all time. This tie has a structural, masculine look that made me think of the famous toy set. (Interesting side note: In addition to being an inventor, Gilbert won the Olympic Gold Medal in pole vaulting in 1908.) 100% woven silk. Made by hand.
